The Keta Municipal Secretariat of the National Youth Authority (NYA) continues to make strides in youth empowerment through a series of impactful programs aimed at equipping young people with leadership, advocacy, and decision-making skills. Among these initiatives was the successful hosting of the First Sitting of the Second Youth Parliament of Keta/Anloga, an important platform designed to engage the youth in democratic processes and community leadership.
The sitting provided an opportunity for young parliamentarians to deliberate on issues affecting their communities, develop leadership competencies, and promote critical thinking among their peers. It also aimed to establish a safe, inclusive environment where adolescents could voice their concerns and contribute to policy dialogues without fear of intimidation or prejudice.
Resource persons for the session included Mr. Francis K. Susuawu, Mr. Yao Dominic Dzanado, Mr. Ferdinald Amuzu, and Mr. David Pomefa, who shared insights on leadership, civic responsibility, and parliamentary procedures.
Participants commended the initiative, with several adolescents expressing that they felt safe, supported, and confident in sharing their views, knowing their privacy would be respected. The NYA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining such platforms to nurture responsible, informed, and participatory youth leadership within the municipality.
