The Keta Municipal Assembly has officially launched the Municipal Sanitation Day on Saturday, 9th August 2025, at Anlo-Afiadenyigba Market Square, starting off with a massive clean-up exercise.

Residents came out in large numbers to clean the lagoon sides and other parts of the community.

Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Wisdom Bondieu Seade, thanked the people for their support and reminded them of the long-standing tradition of “dordede” — a community cleaning culture passed down from our forefathers to “drive away diseases.” He also announced a Sanitation Award Scheme to reward the Cleanest Community and spotlight the Least Cleaned Community in the Municipality.

Torgbi Kadzahlo Dabrese IV, Paramount Chief of Anlo-Afiadenyigba, urged residents to make regular clean-ups a habit and called on the Government to complete stalled projects in the area. The MCE assured that funds have been allocated and that work will resume soon.

From Vui to Vodza, Horvi to Abor, reports showed massive turnouts for the maiden event. The Assembly also donated cleaning tools, including wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels, cutlasses, boots, and gloves, to all 7 Zonal Councils.

Together, let’s keep Keta clean.
