The Keta Municipal Assembly has organized a one-day sensitization workshop on the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) IX at the Assembly’s Conference Room on 9th September 2025. The workshop aimed to brief and prepare officers for the effective implementation of the new DPAT IX framework.

In his welcome address, Mr. Jones Nketiah, the Human Resource Manager, commended participants for attending at short notice and emphasized the importance of teamwork and commitment to achieving the Assembly’s targets.

Delivering the opening remarks, Mr. Seth Kpodji, the Municipal Coordinating Director, underscored the relevance of the session in strengthening institutional capacity for improved performance. He explained that the sensitization was essential in ensuring that all officers understood their roles in meeting the assessment indicators.

Mr. Kpodji further led participants through a detailed presentation on the new DPAT IX indicators, highlighting the changes from previous assessment cycles. He noted that the assessment approach had been modified — consultants would no longer visit the Assemblies physically; instead, all documents and data would now be uploaded onto the District Development Data Platform (DDDP) for remote evaluation.

The session was highly interactive, with officers seeking clarifications on specific indicators and contributing suggestions for effective implementation. Participants were also reminded of the need for accountability, collaboration, and timely submission of reports to ensure the Assembly meets all DPAT requirements.

A total of thirty-seven (37) participants attended the workshop, comprising twenty-three (23) males and fourteen (14) females, including Heads of Departments, Unit Heads, and Senior Officers of the Assembly.

At the end of the session, participants expressed satisfaction with the insights gained and pledged their commitment to supporting the implementation process. Concerns were, however, raised about the lack of adequate logistics and support for officers, which management assured would be addressed.

Key outcomes of the workshop included a better understanding of the new indicators, strengthened commitment among officers, and consensus on strategies for successful implementation.

In conclusion, the workshop was deemed a success, setting the Assembly on the right path toward meeting the DPAT IX requirements. Participants expressed confidence that, with sustained collaboration and management support, the Keta Municipal Assembly would perform creditably in the upcoming assessment.

Among the recommendations were the formation of a coordination team to vet departmental submissions, integration of new indicators into departmental work plans, and establishment of regular monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure compliance and accountability.
