Department Of Trade And Industry

The Department of Trade and Industry in the municipality was formerly known as the Business Advisory Centre (BAC). It has been renamed to the Ghana Enterprises Agency and operates in the Assembly. The Department oversees activities of Medium, Small and Micro-Enterprises in the Municipality in partnership with regional, national and international donors.

The Department ensures the following;

a. facilitate the implementation of policies on trade and industry in the Municipality;
b. advise the Municipal Assembly on issues related to trade and industry in the Municipality;
c. assist in the collection and dissemination of tourism, trade and industry, statistical data and other information,
d. prepare and submit periodic reports on trade and industries to the Municipal Assembly;
e. assist in sourcing funding to support the implementation of programmes and projects to promote trade and industry in the Municipality;
f. facilitate the promotion and development of small-scale industries in the Municipality;
a. assist to design, develop and implement a plan of action to meet the needs and expectations of organized groups;
g. assist and facilitate the provision of infrastructure required to accelerate the implementation of policies or execution of programs on trade and industry
h. assist in the establishment and management of rural and small-scale industries on commercial basis;
i. promote the formation of associations, co-operative groups and other organizations which are beneficial to the development of small-scale industries;
j. assist in offering business and trading advisory information services;
k. compile a register of all trade, industry/associations in the Municipality.
