In a bid to address the pressing issue of illegal sand winning and to discuss upcoming development plans in Keta and Dzelukope Electoral Areas, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and staff of Keta Municipal Assembly held a community engagement session. The meeting involved Chiefs, opinion leaders, and concerned community members.

During the meeting, the Assembly presented its plans to tackle the detrimental effects of illegal sand winning while outlining development initiatives for the area. However, community leaders expressed apprehensions about the potential impact of the proposed plans on their fishing businesses.

Acknowledging the valid concerns, the Assembly assured the community leaders that their input would be taken into account, and the development plan would be reviewed accordingly. The consultation process will continue, fostering an inclusive and collaborative approach to find solutions that safeguard both the environment and the livelihoods of the local residents.
