This report provides an account of a one day orientation and training workshop delivered to new recruits (mainly in the Transport and Auxiliary Class) of the Keta Municipal Assembly on 26th May, 2023 to provide the new recruits with the basic organizational information they need to transition into their new roles and responsibilities within the Local Government Service. The training which was held in the Conference room of the Keta Municipal Assembly saw a total of five (5) officers in attendance and this included four (4) males and one (1) female.
The training session was opened by the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Emmanuel Gemegah who advised the participants to make the best of the orientation and sensitization workshop to enrich their experiences and to improve their performance while making positive impact in the Service.
The workshop was delivered through adult learning methods and participatory approaches including presentations and the use of practical cases from incidents within the Local Government Service which made it meaningful and interactive. Participants also had opportunity to ask questions to better understand the various Local Government Service Protocols which were presented.
The workshop contributed to identifying some knowledge and skills gaps that would be required to improve performance of the newly recruited employees.
