Keta Municipality’s Agricultural Department launched an extensive campaign to mark World Rabies Day in the Municipality in a bid to raise awareness and combat rabies, conducted various initiatives. In the morning, educational programs aired on all local radio stations and information centres in the municipality to disseminate information on rabies prevention. As part of the effort, free ant rabies vaccines were administered to dogs at the municipal assembly’s forecourt, resulting in the vaccination of 61 dogs.

Throughout September, the municipality extended its reach by visiting remote communities in the Northern part of Keta. On this outreach, 23 dogs and 2 cats received vaccination, ensuring that even those unable to make it to the central location on the 28th were covered. Additionally, an unexpected visitor, a monkey, also received the vaccine. In total, the campaign successfully vaccinated 85 dogs, 2 cats, and 1 monkey, contributing to the fight against rabies in the region.
