Mr. Emmanuel Gemegah, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive, has donated 500 school desks to the Keta Education Directorate of the Ghana Education Service. This initiative aims to enhance the teaching and learning environment while addressing the issue of overcrowded classrooms during study hours.
Mr. Gemegah highlighted the importance of tackling challenges within the education sector and emphasized that the donation is part of the Nana Addo-led government’s collaboration with the Get Fund to address school-related issues nationwide. Expressing concern for students who still sit on the floor during lessons, he underscored the need for a modern learning environment.
Describing the timing of the donation as crucial, Mr. Gemegah expressed confidence that distributing the desks to schools would alleviate the current situation. He commended the government for its responsive approach to addressing challenges.
Mr. Avudzivi Gerdard, the Municipal Educational Director, received the desks with enthusiasm, assuring that they would be distributed equitably. He urged individuals and philanthropists to contribute to resolving educational challenges in the area, promising proper maintenance to ensure the longevity of the donated wooden school desks.
