The KGL Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Accra, has extended a lifeline to the flood victims of the Keta Municipality in the Volta Region. This act of kindness comes in the aftermath of the devastating spillage of the Akosombo dam last year, which wreaked havoc on the lives and livelihoods of many in the region.

The foundation’s contribution, comprising essential relief items, aims to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the calamity. Among the donated items are bags of rice, weedicide, fertilizers, safety boots, and medical equipment for the Keta Municipal Hospital.

Mr. Nii Sapei, the programs manager of the foundation, emphasized that this gesture underscores their commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in times of need.

“Keta municipality is dear to our heart,” Mr. Sapei affirmed, highlighting the foundation’s responsiveness to the appeal from local authorities. He underscored the foundation’s philosophy of fostering grassroots initiatives and empowering local communities to address their challenges autonomously.

“Our main corporate responsibility is nurturing youth potentials through Sports, Education, and women empowerment,” Mr. Sapei reiterated, outlining the foundation’s holistic approach to community development.

The donation was warmly received by Mr. Emmanuel Gemegah, the Chief Executive of Keta, who expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the residents. He assured that the items would be distributed equitably and utilized for their intended purposes, promising transparency and accountability in their management.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Keta Municipal Assembly, Keta Municipal Hospital, and Keta Municipal Health Directorate, the KGL Foundation organized a health screening and blood donation exercise for the residents. This initiative underscores the foundation’s commitment to holistic community welfare, encompassing both immediate relief efforts and long-term healthcare support.

As the residents of Keta continue to rebuild their lives in the wake of adversity, the KGL Foundation’s benevolent intervention serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity. Through their unwavering dedication to the well-being of vulnerable communities, they exemplify the power of collective action in times of crisis.
