Keta Municipal Assembly officially launched the District Roads Improvement Program (DRIP) at Vodza. This government-led initiative seeks to upgrade, maintain, and improve local infrastructure, enhancing road connectivity within districts, particularly in rural and semi-urban communities.

In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Emmanuel Gemegah, underscored the program’s importance in tackling long-standing road challenges. He emphasized its role in promoting safer transport and improving access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets. The MCE, alongside stakeholders, media personnel, students, and municipal engineers, commissioned the project’s equipment.

The assembly unveiled newly acquired machinery, including one roller, one grader, one backhoe loader, one water tanker, two concrete mixers, one tipper truck, two pumping machines, two wheelbarrows, and twenty barrels.

A comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework has been established to track DRIP’s progress, with independent auditors and government agencies ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.

Funded by the Government of Ghana under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the program will be implemented in phases, beginning in Vodza and gradually extending to other communities within the municipality.

Stakeholder involvement has been central to planning and execution, with workshops and consultations held to reflect community needs and priorities. DRIP also incorporates modern, eco-friendly construction techniques and smart technology for efficient road monitoring and maintenance.

Although challenges such as land acquisition and funding gaps are anticipated, the government has committed to proactive measures to address them.

In conclusion, the MCE expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their unwavering support, marking a significant step toward bridging the urban-rural infrastructure gap.
