The people of Keta and the Anlo Traditional Area have honoured the late former President, Jerry John Rawlings, with the unveiling of a statue at Dzelukope, Keta Parks and Gardens.
The ceremony, marked by rich cultural display and solemn reflection, celebrated the legacy and enduring impact of the former leader, whose roots trace back to the Keta area.
Speaking on behalf of the Chiefs of the Anlo Traditional Area, Togbi Joachim Acolatse V paid tribute to the late statesman, noting that Rawlings remained deeply connected to his heritage and made significant contributions to Ghana’s development. He urged the youth to emulate the values of discipline, probity, and accountability for which Rawlings was widely known.
Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chiefs and people of Anlo, with special mention of Togbi Sri, for the honour bestowed on her late father. She called on Ghanaians to uphold values that foster peace, unity, and national development.
The colourful event brought together traditional authorities, political figures, and residents from across the Volta Region, reflecting the widespread admiration and respect for the late former President.
The unveiling of the statue stands as a lasting symbol of remembrance and a source of inspiration for future generations.
